More Than a Spelling Bee
Participants won’t just show up on competition day. Registered spellers will receive guided preparation designed to strengthen vocabulary, pronunciation, word analysis, confidence and public speaking skills as they prepare to take the stage.

🐝 Spelling Bee Competition  Eligibility & Registration Requirements

Grade Eligibility

Participants must be enrolled in Grades 3–5 during the 2026–2027 school year.

Residency / School Eligibility

Participants must reside in or attend school in Palm Beach County.

2A. Out-of-County Exception:
A limited number of spots will be available to students who reside and/or attend school outside of Palm Beach County. These spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Palm Beach County students will receive priority for all remaining spots.

Required Supporting Document

Parents/Legal Guardians must submit ONE of the following:

3A. Teacher Recommendation Letter
A brief teacher recommendation letter on official school letterhead.
For homeschooled students, the parent may provide the recommendation letter.

OR

3B. FAST Reading Assessment Report
A FAST Reading Assessment report with a Level 3 or higher. We accept either:

  • 2025–2026 PM3 (End-of-Year) Score Report, or
  • 2026–2027 PM1 (Beginning-of-Year) Score Report

Registration & Fee

Participants must complete the official registration form and submit the registration fee at the time of registration.

Rules & Sportsmanship

Participants must agree to follow all Spelling Bee rules and demonstrate good sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Practice Attendance

Participants must attend at least 70% of the practice sessions, in addition to attending the dress rehearsal.

Grade-Level Division Participants must be enrolled in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade.

Participants may compete in only one grade-level division based on their current grade level.

Previous Winners

Previous first-place winners may re-enter the competition as long as they remain eligible based on the grade-level requirements.

Registration Policy

Registration is first-come, first-served. All registration fees are non-refundable.

Competition Divisions

3rd and 4th graders will compete together in the same division. 5th graders will compete separately in their own division.
